Biography
Maryam R. Al Shehhi received her PhD degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering from Masdar Institute in 2017, with a focus in the application of Environmental remote sensing and Earth Observations. Before obtaining PhD, she received a master's degree in Water and Environmental Engineering from Masdar Institute in 2012. Her Master’s research focused on optical oceanography for marine pollution monitoring.
In August 20I7, Maryam joined the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) at MIT as a visiting scholar and worked on ocean modeling and physical oceanography applied to the gulf waters. In August 2019, she joined Khalifa University as an Assistant Professor. Maryam is interested in addressing the coastal ocean problems, marine habitats and climate change through using physical and optical oceanography. She uses numerical and theoretical frameworks supported by field and satellite data.
